Prunus dulcis The almond is a species of tree native to the Middle East, India and North Africa. Blanched almonds are shelled and have been treated with hot water to soften the seedcoat, which is then removed to reveal the white inner fruit. This nutritionally dense food is a rich source of several vitamins and minerals, dietary fiber and mono- and polyunsaturated fats. The gluten-free flour can be used in a great variety of baked goods.
