Cacao nibs are the simply the peeled and chopped up version of the raw, unprocessed cacao beans. Raw cacao beans are the dried and fully fermented seeds from the fruit of the cacao (or cocoa) tree. In general, cacao is considered to be a rich source of antioxidants such as procyanidins and flavanoids, which may impart anti-aging properties. Cacao is a stimulant and contains the compounds theobromine and caffeine. The nibs can be used into yoghurts, oatmeal or baking products.
