Cinnamon Sticks

Cinnamomum verum
Cinnamon has been known from remote antiquity, with imports to Egypt known as early as 2000 BCE. The Ceylon cinnamon tree stems are cut and processed by scraping off the outer bark, loosening the inner bark which is then pried off in log rolls. The rolls (or quills) are dried for several hours and cutted into 5 - 10 cm rolls. Ceylon cinnamon sticks have many uses, such as infusing liquids or desserts with its typical flavour.
