Logistical Delays due to COVID-19

By January 19, 2021 Uncategorized

Dear Relations,

Unfortunately, the corona virus is still among us and has a large impact on the world and its people. It is impacting production facilities globally and is restricting container shipments from Asia and South-America to Europe. The freight rates for container shipments from particularly Asian countries have increased up to six times compared to the freight charges last year. The main reason for this significant increase in freight rates is the shortage of available empty containers, limited availability of containerships and open spots on the vessels.
Another reason is the port restrictions due to COVID-19 in different countries.

These circumstances are making the import of ingredients from Asian and Southern-American countries more difficult than ever before. For these reasons, offering our ingredients on spot-basis can be challenging. We do our utmost to cover all open contracts with our clients but these circumstances can cause delays in delivery.

Many European countries are currently in a hard lockdown. Truck drivers have to show a negative COVID-19 test before being able to pass the border, which results in traffic jams at the borders of various EU countries. Unfortunately, this means that our deliveries can sometimes be delayed with one, or a few days. We do our best to provide our clients with a realistic and clear delivery date. However, we cannot promise that all goods will arrive on the initially communicated delivery date. Slight delays can occur in our deliveries due to the lockdowns, but at all times we shall try to keep our clients informed on changes in the delivery schedule.

Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team in case you have any further questions or inquiries for our ingredients

We hope you understand. Stay safe!
